Chelsea individuals “aren’t focused enough to win Premier League” says former Liverpool star in stinging criticism

Stan Collymore has used his column this week in the Daily Mirror to say that he doesn’t think Chelsea win will the league.

He chose a brave time to make his move – waiting for the Blues to drop from the top of the table to claim that their stars “lack humility” and “aren’t focused enough” to win the Premier League.

He compares them to Liverpool, who won the league two seasons ago after winning the Champions League. They returned from their triumph fully focused, and knowing they had to start all over again to win the league.

Collymore isn’t seeing the same from this young Chelsea group, instead he’s seeing too many “fun, Soccer AM type interviews” and not enough graft.

“When I look at Chelsea, I see a team — or at least individuals within the team — who are still basking in the afterglow of being European champions rather than being completely and utterly focused on taking the next step of winning the Premier League title.”

It’s a truly stinging accusation of a group who so far have shown themselves to be incredibly disciplined and focused. Not only have they won the Champions League this year, they’re also competing at the top of the division with the big guns despite some bad injuries.

We hope they can go out over these next few games and prove him wrong.
