We’re less than a month away from the date when Antonio Rudiger can legally negotiate with new clubs outside the Premier League, and the chatter is already ramping up around the defender’s camp.
The Independent are today reporting exclusively that the defender has had “informal talks” with Real Madrid. and that there was also a meeting with Bayern Munich last week.
Rudiger’s half-brother is his agent, and he’s clearly warming up to play all these top teams against each other to secure the best possible contract for the defender.
The 28 year old knows this will be his last big contact, and so far the Blues aren’t offering him what he thinks he deserves.
Chelsea have only themselves to blame for letting the Germany star reach the end of his current deal – but they will still be hoping that continued success on the pitch will persuade Rudiger that his best option is staying put as a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s back three.
