Trevoh Chalobah scored his first Champions League goal for Chelsea tonight, building on his excellent performance against Leicester in the Premier League at the weekend.
He spoke after the game about his process of breaking into the first team, and he pointed to two players who had helped him on his journey to a first team regular.
It’s touching to see.
Both Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva have clearly been helping the youngster, and it’s really rubbing off on him. He’s spent a lot of time with Reece James over the years too – and that showed in the way he smashed his goal into the net.
You can see the defender speaking in the clip embedded here:
"As a young kid, I was watching the Champions League. To now be involved and get a goal… It's been very emotional."
A first Champions League start, a first #UCL goal…
A dream night for Player of the Match Trevoh Chalobah! 🤩
