Karen Carney had a great career, but it was full of ups and downs like most footballers.
She was on PLP speaking about Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s rollercoaster ride so far, and she pointed out something that hasn’t been noted much – how brave he was to go Fulham last season.
As she says, he had to take a step backwards to go forward, and that risk has worked out great so far, as he’s back in Chelsea’s plans and looking better than he has done in some time.

She’s spot on, and we’re delighted to see that Ruben’s gamble has paid off – part in thanks to Thomas Tuchel’s faith in a player he had never worked with before.
