Timo Werner returns to Chelsea training with squad now close to full strength

Timo Werner is back in full first team training following his hamstring injury, according to pictures posted on the club’s official website this afternoon.

Timo, along with the players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante who had returned from international duty yesterday, joined in a session with an almost full squad. Romelu Lukaku was at Cobham, but trained individually after his own injury issues.

It’s great to have Timo back, but unfortunately this late return rules him out from any realistic chance of starting on Saturday. We may see him as a sub later on, but after a few weeks off, he will need more time to get up to speed.

The club are likely to be extra cautious given it was a hamstring injury, and even the midweek game against Juventus next week could be a bit of a stretch, given there will likely only be a couple more full days of training before then.
