Thomas Tuchel gives Champions League injury update

Thomas Tuchel has just taken his Champions League press conference ahead of the crunch game against Juventus, and as you’d expect, injuries were at the top of the agenda after a tricky few weeks for the Blues on the medical front.

Romelu Lukaku was the first player anyone asked about, and Tuchel’s answer was basically “not sure” – but it sounds like a start is a stretch, and a sub appearance for the final minutes is the best we can hope for.

Jorginho is fine, but there are “some doubts” over Kai Havertz after he tweaked a hamstring. In all likelihood, Timo Werner and he will share the minutes up top through the game against Juve, as neither is 100%.

Werner “feels good” and sounds like he can also make a sub appearance at the very least – and possibly more given he’s had more time in training than Lukaku.

At the very least, it sounds like both our strikers will finally be back for the game against Manchester United at the weekend.
