Romelu Lukaku could play against Manchester United “if everything works out perfectly”

Thomas Tuchel has juts given a major injury update in his press conference ahead of the Leicester game tomorrow, with lots of his squad now close to fitness again.

The name everyone wanted to hear about was Romelu Lukaku though, and while Tuchel ruled him out of tomorrow’s game, a curious hack asked whether it was possible he’d be back for next week’s games against Juventus and Manchester United.

Tuchel was determined not to put pressure on the striker’s recovery, but admitted that “if everything works perfectly” Lukaku could theoretically join the team training sessions on Sunday, and be ready for the bench later in the week.

“We will not rush things” he added in quotes picked up by Football.London.

At this rate, a start against Manchester United looks possible, after a whole week of training, but as the gaffer says, everything would have to go perfectly, and there are a lot of “ifs” and involved which stop it sounding too likely.
