Reece James may be offered monster new contract ahead of schedule

Chelsea have a lot of contract issues in their defence at the moment, but thankfully there is one player they don’t need to worry about just yet.

Reece James is in the best form of his impressive young career, and he scored again last night as he put in another exceptional performance, this time against European giants Juventus.

According to Matt Law’s piece in the Telegraph today, the defender’s contract signed in January 2020 runs until 2025, with an option from the club to extend it a year further.

That means they don’t have any pressing need to offer him a new deal – but so exceptional is his form that they may want to offer him new terms ahead of schedule.

He’s establishing himself as one of Europe’s top options in his position, and it’s only right he’s paid accordingly. That’s one type of pay rise that no employer would begrudge their employee.
