PSG will be looking at Kante next summer as they continue free agent frenzy

N’Golo Kante is not dangerously near the end of his contract like some of Chelsea’s players, but the 30 year old has a deal that expires in the summer of 2023, so this is the ideal time to get working on an extension if the club want to keep him.

In his exclusive interview with TalkChelsea Fabrizio Romano revealed that the club had informally begun talks with the midfielder after the Champions League final, but have kept things low key in order to allow him to focus on his football.

Eventually the pressure will be on however, especially when other clubs come calling. According to Romano, PSG will likely be one of the teams interesting in the midfielder as they continue their free agent frenzy.

“Kante and Chelsea are not talking about a new contract as of now but it’s one of the things that Chelsea have on their agenda,” Romano explained.

“I think that’s the plan with Kante long term. But you know with these kinds of players, with top clubs looking for midfielders, as I said before with the strikers, this year will be a big big summer for midfielders. PSG and many other clubs will be looking for them – so let’s see what happens.”

Kante seems happy in London, and will probably be delighted to accept one final big offer from the Blues. But he’s Paris born and bred, and the only team who might perhaps be able to tempt him are PSG.

They’ve got the location, the money and the trophy winning potential to tempt him. But for now, we’re not worried.
