Chelsea ‘willing to pay’ €50m clause of rising Barcelona star

Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay the release clause and sign the next biggest thing to come out of the Barcelona academy, according to reports today.

The Blues will often be watching the biggest rising talents closely and this one in particular has a release clause that club owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly ‘willing to pay’.

Sport Witness have the story from Spanish publication Sport, suggesting that Chelsea are ‘very keen’ on Barcelona midfielder Gavi, and are willing to pay his €50m clause that will see him be released from his Barca contract.

Personally I do feel this is a high amount for Chelsea to pay for a 17-year old player, but you can never totally rule out these rumours when they come up.

I think Chelsea will always be interested in these types of players and I have no doubt Gavi will be a huge player in time, but will Chelsea take this risk? That remains to be seen.
