Chelsea face uphill battle to sign Federico Chiesa, even if Tuchel does like him

After making major moves this summer, Chelsea have been relatively quiet on the transfer front.

They’ve got a fantastic squad with a lot of depth and plenty of youngsters ready to step up, so they can save their funds for stars who will really improve their starting XI.

CalcioMercato reports that Thomas Tuchel thinks he’s found one.

Federico Chiesa of Juventus scored the winning goal for the Old Lady a couple of months ago when they played Chelsea in Turin, and apparently Tuchel liked what he saw.

It’s a move that would cost a lot – probably heading towards the amounts that we paid for Romelu Lukaku this summer. Chiesa has also only just signed permanently for Juve, and they not be willing sellers.

The suggestion is that it could happen in January, but that just seems impossible to us. Juventus won’t sell and we don’t really need to buy. If we are interested, it will be a slow burner.
