“A complete performance” – Petr Cech hails Chelsea’s perfect win over Juventus

We always enjoy Petr Cech’s weekly column on the Chelsea website, especially after a good result, and you don’t get much better than the win over Juventus on Tuesday night.

The Blues absolutely battered Juve, and Cech was full of praise for Thomas Tuchel’s team as they styled their way to the top of their Champions League group.

“[Juventus] were happy to defend, and they were well organised, but we wore them down with our intensity and relentlessness, and the attitude to go and score goals really put them under pressure. Everybody contributed, which is really nice. It was a team effort with unbelievable intensity and quality. A complete performance.”

He also noted the fact that that game was the 31st clean sheet from Tuchel’s first 50 games as manager. That beats the record of Jose Mourinho’s first 50 games, with Cech in goal.

He praised this astonishing stat, and noted that it all these clean sheets aren’t just coming from an exceptional defence and goalkeeper, it’s the whole team working in unison to keep the opposition at bay.

Just like in Cech’s day, everyone from the coach down is working day and night to keep the team watertight, and the amazing results we’re having are a testament to that.
