Gary Lineker is a man who knows N’Golo Kante well. As a Leicester fan, he saw exactly what the midfielder could do first hand.
After Newcastle’s takeover by new owners backed by Saudi Arabia, they’ve been linked with pretty much every world class player under the sun, and a joke video on Twitter has seen a fake lineup including Messi, Ronaldo, Salah de Bruyne et al. playing for the Magpies.
At the end, N’Golo Kante pops up, and on Twitter Lineker joked that this insanely attacking XI might actually be possible – as long as it’s Kante mopping up behind.

“With Kante, you could probably get away with this starting lineup,” he quipped.
We’d have to agree, if you’re going to try and play anyone in that role, it would have to be Kante. As for putting him in goal, as the video suggests… that might be a little more challenging for him.
