The nominations for this years Ballon d’Or came out last week and we had a number of Chelsea players on the list.
One of them was of course Italian international Jorginho, after he helped Chelsea win the Champions League and then Italy win the Euros in the summer.

The midfielder has had a fantastic year and was even named European player of the season.
He had to deal with a lot of criticism when he first joined Chelsea from Napoli, but he has gone on to prove them wrong and become a hugely important player in Chelsea’s starting line up.
Thomas Tuchel loves him and believes he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or…

"For me, individual prizes don’t have great significance. I would like one of my players to win it because I would know what the effect would be."

This is also a view that is backed up by a number of big names in the game, including two former Italy managers, Marcello Lippi and Arrigo Sacchi, as reported by Football Italia.
“Jorginho should receive the Ballon d’Or this year, not the usual suspects,” noted Lippi during the Festival dello Sport event in Trento.
“I absolutely agree,” added former Italy and Grande Milan boss Sacchi.
