Thomas Tuchel provides injury updates on Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner

Both strikers went off injured against Malmo last night in the Champions League.

It’s a decision that Thomas Tuchel might end up regretting, deciding to start Romelu Lukaku against a poor Malmo side last night, when he was talking about giving him a rest due to being physically and mentally fatigued.

But he decided to start him in the end in order to help him build up some goal-scoring momentum and get him firing again.

What’s happened has happened, and Chelsea went on to win the game 4-0, but there will be some worrying moments today and over the next couple of days as the Chelsea medics find out the exact extent of the damage to both of their strikers.

Tuchel was speaking after the game about both of their diagnosis, and he confirms they will definitely miss some games.

Not ideal really with some big Premier League games coming up, but as reported by Football London, Tuchel said:

“Romelu twisted his ankle with the foul in the box and Timo has a hamstring injury. It will take a while for both of them. We need more examinations to be more precise but they will be out for some matches.”
