Thomas Tuchel outlines unique tactical challenge of Brentford

After the standard Friday press conferences ahead of Premier League games, Chelsea like to ask a couple of questions of the manager to be revealed exclusively on their app on Saturday morning.

Yesterday, it seems Thomas Tuchel was asked about Brentford and their manager, and today we get to see his answers on the official Chelsea site. The Blues boss explained the tactical challenge that their opposition are going to provide today, as well as complimenting the whole club’s strategy and governance:

“They play 5-3-2 very well, aggressively with a clear structure. They show a lot of courage, enthusiasm and confidence. By doing so they got good results which are well deserved,” Tuchel said.

“It is a tough moment to go there, and it will be a tough challenge.”

It will be interesting to see that 3-5-2 up against Chelsea’s very similar shape. If Tuchel picks Timo Werner up front with Romelu Lukaku (as he did before the international break) he can actually mirror Brentford’s shape.

On the other hand, with both Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger set to miss the game, perhaps he will be keen to play the most familiar setup possible.
