Thomas Tuchel denies that Chelsea are “hiding” anything over Christian Pulisic injury

Chelsea are struggling to get into gear in attack this season so far, and fans have been looking at the players who haven’t featured much and wondering if they would make a difference.

One of them – Christian Pulisic – started and scored on the opening weekend but basically has not been seen since.

That’s a couple of months at this point, although he was able to make an appearance for the US. It’s an almost suspiciously long period to be out, given we constantly seem to hear he’s close to full fitness, and Thomas Tuchel was asked about the situation in his Champions League press conference today.

In quotes picked up by Football.London, he insisted he and the medical team weren’t “hiding details” about Pulisic, and that it was just a matter of time before the tricky winger was back playing again:

“He got injured in the match against the USA with a tough foul, hurt his ankle. There is nothing to worry in that we are hiding details. I cannot give you them because I am not a doctor. He has some setbacks, some pain in his ankle that disturbs him. With his quick movements, he feels it and isn’t free in the movement, the recovery is not happening.”

Let’s hope that the issues clear up soon – there’s a growing sense that the Blues simply can’t rely on Pulisic, given his endless injuries.
