Thomas Tuchel admits problem with the “same song we sing for many weeks”

Chelsea were very lucky to get all three points at Brentford on Saturday evening there are no two ways about that.

Although the three points and the fact that Chelsea are still sitting on top of the Premier League are the main thing right now, there is a slight issue that the fans, and now even Thomas Tuchel are starting to notice as a reoccurring theme.

The Blues have lacked the creativity to make chances and be the attacking force that they can be in recent games.

At Brentford they only managed 1 shot on target and 5 attempts at goal, that is very poor. And it has been a similar story in many matches in recent weeks.

It is something for the players and Tuchel to address and get on top of, because we are going to have to be a lot better in the attacking third if we are to stay in our current position.

“We try our best to create chances,” Tuchel told the Chelsea website.

“I saw matches at Brentford and it’s not so easy to score, and not easy to keep clean sheets. We lacked precision, which is maybe the same song we sing for many weeks.

“We put a lot of effort into every part of the game. It’s not only about scoring, it’s about defending, counter-pressing, escaping the pressure. Sometimes we maybe lack a bit of composure in front of goal. But we have quality and we trust our guys to score more goals.

“In general, Liverpool and Man City have proven in the last years they are the benchmark in terms of quality and consistency. They have shown what it takes to become champions. We have to improve in every aspect of the game, offensively and defensively, and we will not stop trying to create more for our strikers.”
