Edouard Mendy was man of the match for Chelsea today, by a pretty monstrous margin.
His teammates got the goal they needed, but weren’t able to contain a fired up Brentford, who surged forward and gave their all to equalise. At one point, Bees manager Thomas Frank had to just throw his hands up into the air and laugh – there was just nothing his team could do to break through the solid wall in Chelsea’s goal.
Mendy was equal to everything they had to throw at him though, and at full time the internet lit up with praise for him.
From fans to footballers to journalists to TV pundits, there was one name on everyone’s lips. The Senegal stopper has been brilliant since he arrived, but today he really broke into the public consciousness in the UK.
