Ruben Loftus-Cheek in line for another Premier League start as pieces fall into place

Most Chelsea fans – us included – despaired when Ruben Loftus-Cheek didn’t get a loan move away from the club this summer.

It seemed he would be destined for a wasted year of rotting on the bench, but in the end our poor form to start the season has given him a chance in the first team. His performances have been great, and he’s made the most of those chances.

When he didn’t play against Malmo last night, we didn’t panic – it looks more like he’s being kept fresh for the weekend.

The injuries to Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are going to free up two first team spots, and that should guarantee RLC a game. Whether he plays in the front 3, or whether he plays in midfield 3 in an adapted formation, we’re sure Thomas Tuchel will be relying on him.

And you won’t find anyone happier to see it than us.
