Romelu Lukaku leaves Chelsea game injured

Chelsea are now 2-0 up against Malmo in the Champions League, and cruising to what looks like a comfortable win.

The problem for them is what happened in earning that second goal.

Romelu Lukaku did so well to turn his man and get into the box, where he was taken out by a combination of two Malmo defenders.

One got the ball, but the trailing trailing leg of the other caught Lukaku’s foot and brought him down. As he fell, his ankle twisted nastily, and while he stayed on the pitch to see the penalty scored, he was taken off for Kai Havertz soon after.

That’s a huge blow for us, given we’ve only just signed Lukaku and we’re trying to get him up to speed as quickly as possible. Timo Werner will have to step up now, and this could also be a redemption chance for Kai Havertz after a slow start this season.
