Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is coming into the final 9 months of his contract, and from January 1st he can negotiate with foreign clubs about a free transfer in the summer.
That looks like the most probably outcome as it stands. Chelsea have tried to secure his future, but he’s always going to get bigger offers elsewhere, and having won the Champions League at Stamford Bridge, he won’t feel he has unfinished business.
On the other hand, nothing is for certain, and if he doesn’t get a really tempting offer, he would be crazy to not stick around at Chelsea. We’ve got a perfect system and manager for him, and he’s really go the fans onside.
No wonder then that Sky Sports today report that the Germany defender still open to staying, and it’s a “possibility” that he remains at Stamford Bridge next season.
In our opinion it still seems unlikely, but there’s certainly a chance.
