Reece James insists Chelsea will improve – and they must start against Malmo

Chelsea have desperately missed Reece James in the last few games.

Not only do they need the wing back’s dynamic presence down the right, they also need him fit so that Cesar Azpilicueta can slot back in to the back 3 when needed.

It seems like “Reecey”, as Thomas Tuchel calls him, could be ready for tomorrow night’s game in the Champions League however, as he was put up for media duties today ahead of the game.

Tuchel had already fielded a few questions about why the Blues weren’t firing on all cylinders, and James had to fend off similar enquiries himself.

“It is still early in the season, we are not going to be at the highest level yet. Once we start winning and finding form, I believe our performances will get better,” he said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

He has a point. It may already be mid-October, but the vast majority of these players were at the Euros, and have also since had two international breaks.

There’s still plenty of gelling to be done, and tomorrow night is a great chance to raise our game.
