Chelsea aren’t the only ones chasing Jules Kounde, according to the Daily Mail today.
They claim that Real Madrid are still maintaining a strong interest in the Sevilla defender, whom Chelsea chased in the latter part of the summer.
The Blues put in a £43m offer for Kounde late in the window, but the La Liga team turned them down, reportedly looking for £56m.
Chelsea may regret not agreeing to that fee if Madrid poach him now. It’s hard to imagine Los Blancos stumping up that much, but on the other hand, one can imagine Kounde picking them over Chelsea if the two teams make similar offers.
The Antonio Rudiger situation also comes into question. Madrid have been linked with signing him on a free from Chelsea when his deal expires. But they’re unlikely to want him and Kounde.
The two could see their futures very closely entwined from here.
