Jorginho speaks out on his Ballon d’Or “dream”

Perhaps nobody would be picking Jorginho as their Ballon d’Or winner on pure performances – but in terms of achievement this year, nobody can touch him.

The only player to win both the Champions League and the European Championship this year (apart from Chelsea teammate Emerson Palmieri, who was largely a sub for the Blues), Jorginho’s CV for the year can’t be matched.

Of course the Ballon d’Or isn’t just judged on trophies – but they get you pretty far, and there’s no doubt those exceptional achievements will get Jorginho to the final few.

Speaking in quotes picked out by Football Italia today, the midfielder admitted he was flattered to be in the final few.

“Who doesn’t dream of [winning the Ballon d’Or]? Dreaming small and dreaming big are the same thing, so it’s better to dream big…”

Wise words Jorgi. You’ve come this far – it’s just a shame his team couldn’t win the UEFA Nations League this week to improve his standing even further.

Either way, we’re excited to see where he ends up in the final standings.
