Chelsea’s bad run of form gave Ruben Loftus-Cheek a chance in the first team, and he’s really taken it.
He was good again as the Blues faced Brentford in the Premier League yesterday evening, and while the team struggled later on, they managed 3 points in the end.
Chelsea TV spoke to Loftus-Cheek after the gane, and it was interesting to hear him speak about his role.
He said that he had had “full intentions” of staying at Chelsea after coming back from loan – contrary to the public feeling at the time, which was that he would be loaned again, or even possibly sold.
The concerns were that he hadn’t played every week for a bad Fulham team last season, and that his long term injury had permanently ruined him.
Game by game, he’s proving all the doubters wrong now. We will likely have a full strength midfield available next weekend – and Ruben could well be in it.
