“I am confident” – Kepa Arrizabalga says he feels ‘good’ ahead of taking number one spot

There was a really positive performance from Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Carabao Cup fourth round last night.

Although he made an error to allow Southampton to grab an equaliser, he then went on to make a string of top class saves in order to keep Chelsea in the game.

He saw them through to the penalty shootout, and then made a vital save in that against Theo Walcott to help Chelsea win the game and progress into the next round.

He will soon be needing to take the reigns as Chelsea’s number one in the absence of Edouard Mendy early next year, who will be off with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. So this performance felt important for the player, the manager, and Chelsea fans.

He needed that confidence boost, and even the way he picked himself up after the error to perform so well, is a huge plus.

Kepa is feeling confident, good, and happy after the win.
