Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been world class since he arrived at the club from Rennes last summer.
He wasn’t exactly a household name for those that didn’t watch French football, but he soon made himself known and stamped his authority down as a top quality keeper nailing down the number one spot at the club.
Mendy had been pursued by Chelsea legend Petr Cech who let’s face it, knows his goalkeepers.

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux believes Mendy has ‘paved the way for black goalkeepers’ and changed peoples perception on them.
Vigouroux was speaking on his clubs YouTube channel and he admits that he had never heard of Mendy when he signed for Chelsea.
But he says that Mendy has been nothing short of amazing since arriving at Stamford Bridge, and there is nobody out there who would argue with that statement.
"We can look up to him as a reference for what he's done in the recent past especially and I feel like that perception is starting to change a little bit."

And of course, he’s a Champion of Europe as well now, which is no light achievement.
