Japan have pulled out of being hosts due to the coronavirus pandemic, and an alternative host was being sought.

FIFA have yet to confirm an alternative host but are set to make a decision on when it will now take place at their next Council meeting on October 20, according to The Daily Mirror.

They claim that the expectation is that the competition will be delayed until early 2022 instead.

Chelsea would have missed several key Premier League matches to take part and they are now awaiting to hear of their fate going forward.

It certainly is far from ideal for the club planning and preparation, which they would certainly want to have sorted out by now.
