Chelsea’s subs against Brentford can lead the team forward

Chelsea really struggled against Brentford last weekend, continuing a start to the season which has seen them have a lot of difficulty clicking in attack.

There are many reasons for that – new signings trying to settle in, players who have had little break since the Euros in the summer – but whatever the cause, we’ve been riding our luck, and it can’t continue forever.

One piece of good news from the game was the fact that we were able to escape with a win while resting some key players.

Alongside the injury absences, we also had Reece James, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount on the bench. They were the three to be subbed on, and one imagines they will be three starters against Malmo in the Champions League on Wednesday.

All of them can provide big attacking threat to the team, and all of them have now had an extra few days rest. That gives us fresh hope that this side has another gear to go do.
