Chelsea full back explains how he feels after first England goal

It’s been an up and down year for Ben Chilwell, and we’re glad things have gone well for him this week.

After winning the Champions League in May, he was an unused sub for England throughout the Euros, and then couldn’t get into Thomas Tuchel’s team this year.

But he got a chance for England against Andorra, and he made the most of it, scoring the opening goal for the Three Lions.

Speaking to the Chelsea official website, Chilwell explained what it was like to finally have a goal for his country:

“It’s amazing. I’ve been in the squad for three or so years now so to get that first goal was special. Although I waited a few minutes to celebrate, it’s an amazing feeling and I’m over the moon with it.”

Let’s hope it’s a platform for further success this season, both with Chelsea and England. Marcos Alonso also had a good international break with Spain, and the competition for minutes isn’t going anywhere.

But we all know his quality, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this goal springboards him back into the manager’s plans at Stamford Bridge.
