Antonio Rudiger insistent on leaving Chelsea on a free transfer

Chelsea are trying their hardest to get Antonio Rudiger to sign a new contract, but the defender is determined to move on a free transfer and try his luck elsewhere, according to reports in Marca today.

The column from their editor in chief compares Rudiger’s “insistence” on leaving with Paul Pogba’s uncertainty.

While Pogba might yet be swayed and persuaded to sign a new contract at Manchester United, Rudiger is determined to get his way and to move on.

That will mean a monster pay rise, and the chance to win new titles elsewhere.

Things can change a lot before then of course, and the low risk option would surely be to stay at Stamford Bridge, where he is a key figure in an already successful team.

But the opportunity to head to super club like Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, where he can get a big raise and the chance to win a new league, may prove too tempting.
