Andreas Christensen inspiring Danish footballers says Malmo coach

Andreas Christensen is a very quiet guy, and he’s never grabbed the headlines, even when he’s playing well.

His current form is as good as its ever been, and while the English press aren’t really picking up on it, his countrymen certainly are.

Just check out how highly Jon Dahl Tomasson spoke of the centre back:

“Andreas Christensen is one of the best defenders around,” said Tomasson in quotes picked up by The Independent.

“It’s always good for the Scandinavian countries to have players coming across and making the grade in the Premier League.

“He’s had a great journey and has done tremendously well.

“The way he’s playing and the way he’s been playing here under the new manager, he’s been a great inspiration for a lot of Danish people.”

After an initial spell breaking into the team under Antonio Conte, Christensen struggled to establish himself for extended periods under subsequent managers.

But Thomas Tuchel’s change to a back 3 has given him the space and the position he needed, and since January he’s been pretty much an ever present for the Blues.

Malmo manager Tomasson will now have to work out how to get his players to score past “the ice man” Christensen when Chelsea take on the Swedish team in the Champions League tomorrow night.
