When the Chelsea team news came out today there were a few eyebrows raised that Thomas Tuchel had changed the 3421 formation that has served him so well in his time at Stamford Bridge so far.
With Mason Mount out injured, it was Timo Werner partnering Romelu Lukaku up front, and an extra man in midfield to try and stifle city.
It didn’t work at all – Chelsea were on the back foot all game and could barely get out of their half. But in his press conference after the game, the Chelsea boss insisted that the formation wasn’t the issue at all.
