Thiago Silva has just turned 37, yet he gave perhaps the best performance of his Chelsea career last week against Tottenham.
The defender was superb in defence and in starting attacks, and the idea that his contract runs out at the end of this season seems crazy. As it stands, there’s no doubt the club will keep him around – and when it was put to Thomas Tuchel in his press conference today he said “it’s on him” – meaning if he continues to perform he will have a new deal waiting for him.
There are no doubts about that.
