Timo Werner a top target for Bayern Munich

Despite some horror misses and a quite astonishing collection of bad passes in crucial areas, Timo Werner was a very effective player for Chelsea in his first season in West London, and was a key component of the team that won the Champions League.

The addition of serious attacking talent in the form of Romelu Lukaku this summer has hurt Werner’s prospects though, and he was benched from the start in the Blues’ last game.

He should still have an important role to play this year, but it will be diminished compared to last year, and it already sounds like other teams are circling with interest to try and pick him up in the future.

Absolute Chelsea are reporting that Bayern Munich are interested in the striker and have made him the “top candidate” for the club should Erling Haaland prove difficult to sign next summer.

At that point, his Chelsea future will be much more clear – he could still be a key man at that point, or a spare part.
