Ruben Loftus-Cheek has had a tough couple of years, and was expected to go on loan again this season to try and find some form.
When he didn’t find a club, it looked like it might be another wasted season for him. But he’s starting to get chances now, and he was one of the few Chelsea stars who could hold their head up high after today’s defeat to Manchester City after an impressive performance as a sub.
That makes it two positive showings in a row for the midfielder, who was brilliant against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup game in midweek where he was given his first start for 18 months.
Is this the start of a Ruben remontada? Fans on social media certainly think so, and they were happy to praise him as the one “bright spark” of Chelsea’s disappointing defeat.

Mendy's performance was outstanding but Ruben Loftus-Cheek's performance got me shook. Man has improved.

A good positive to take away from the defeat against Manchester City is Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Man was excellent again today. At this rate, Tuchel is going to catch an headache on who to field every match day.

Not on our game today. City deserved their win … Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mendy and Silva were the only highlights #CFC

Chelsea might‘ve lost today, but this man is currently creating one of the most unlikely and outrageous comeback stories imaginable!
