Jorginho explains how Chelsea need to “break” Juventus tactically

Jorginho had his footballing education in Italy, so he knows all about the qualities of Italian teams in the Champions League.

He’s been the Chelsea player chosen for the press conference ahead of the game against Juventus, and of course was asked about the difference between the game on the continent and in England.

Football.London recorded his quotes on how Chelsea were hoping to defeat the high level continental opposition.

“Tactically of course they are really strong and know how to defend the box. Juventus is a big club, they have been there for many years and we need to try to break them by speed, energy. We respect them of course.”

There’s the key – speed and energy. It’s a cliche that Italian teams are all slow and tactically smart and can be beaten by pure enthusiasm – but most cliches are rooted in reality.

Serie A isn’t the low tempo league it once was, but this Juve team are still finding their feet again, and we fancy our chances more now than we would have at most points in the last few years.

Jorginho is a patient player rather than a runner himself, and he will be key to creating that balance in the team.
