ESPN: Chelsea to reignite move to sign centre back in Janaury

Whilst the summer transfer window may now be over, the drama is always ongoing when it comes to Chelsea and transfer rumours.

The Blues tried to sign Sevilla centre back Jules Kounde this summer, but the move fell through when his club basically said it’s the release clause or nothing.

Chelsea weren’t interested in paying that and left it alone. However, according to ESPN today, Chelsea are looking to reignite that interest during the winter transfer window in January, just four months from now.

The report claims that Chelsea were left bemused by Sevilla’s approach to negotiations. But Kounde is keen on a move to west London and has ‘agreed the framework’ of a four/five-year deal.

They do also say however, that for Chelsea to secure this deal, Sevilla will need to lower their asking price back to around €50M.

Still seems like the two would be some way apart if you ask me.
