Emerson Palmieri breaks silence on leaving Chelsea

Chelsea had a pretty busy summer of transfers this year, with mainly outgoings being at the forefront of business.

The Blues had a very large squad, and Thomas Tuchel was training over 45 players at the start of pre-season, so it was clear that many had to leave either on loan or on permeant moves.

Emerson Palmieri’s Chelsea career has been largely inconsistent, but for much of the time it looked like he would be the one left back being kept by the club to backup Ben Chilwell.

However, Marcos Alonso’s renaissance under Thomas Tuchel has changed that, and it was Emerson who saw himself exiting Stamford Bridge this summer to join Marseille on a loan deal.

He wasn’t going to play hardly at all for Chelsea this season, so it was best for all parties that he departed the club.

“I decided to leave Chelsea as I had no space” , he told Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported below by Fabrizio Romano.

“Roberto Mancini told me: you need to play, you’ve to be a starter. OL proposed an interesting project and I accepted in two or three days. I’m really happy with my choice”

I think he has a lot to offer and will do well in France.
