Chelsea star leaves stadium in bandages as injury worries continue to plague Blues squad

It would be a huge overstatement to say that Chelsea have an injury crisis at the moment, but there’s no doubt that the issues are adding up.

Thiago Silva and Mason Mount weren’t fit to play today, and after the game Thomas Tuchel mentioned slight problems for Jorginho too. Edouard Mendy only returned today from a rib injury suffered against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League last week.

Midway through the first half, things got more serious when Reece James went down hurt, and had to be taken off.

It looked to be an ankle problem, and while the full back was able to walk off under his own power, Nizaar Kinsella reported after the game that he was leaving the stadium bandaged up.

Without any real knowledge of how bad it is, we would say the Juventus game in midweek is already looking unlikely. Let’s hope he can at least be fit to return next weekend.
