Antonio Rudiger’s passport issues almost caused him to arrive late for Tottenham win explains Tuchel

Antonio Rudiger ended up playing a key role for Chelsea in the win over Tottenham today, but he was close to not playing at all.

Thomas Tuchel was frank about what had happened when he spoke to the press at full time. The Sun report exactly what the issue was:

“I was not concerned but it is strange when your player arrives late. He had some passport issues.”

Rudiger was important both in the first half, when the Blues held off Spurs; and in the second too, where Rudiger got a goal with a clever near post finish.

The Sky commentary had mentioned the incident, and they claimed that it was to do with his covid-test status – perhaps the recent international break had something to do with it?

In the end, he was good to start, and he kept up his recent superb form at the back, as Chelsea continued on their impressive defensive run. Let’s hope it’s all sorted out by the time we play our next game, so Rudi can focus on doign what he does best.
