Chelsea left back Emerson Palmieri is close to leaving the club this window.
We are expecting confirmation any time now and the Italian international looks like he is heading to Lyon on loan, which I must admit I wasn’t expecting at all.
I always assumed he would favour a return to Italy and that is where he would be heading this summer if anywhere, but it looks like a move to France is happening now, and all reliable reports say that same thing, he is expected to be confirmed any time now.
Once again though, it will only be a loan deal, but there IS likely to be an option to buy on this deal, according to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella.
As he reports below, Lyon will be able to sign Emerson at the end of the season for around 15 million euros, which is about £13m.
