The Euros ended just 6 days ago, but club football is already taking its first tentative steps of the season.
Chelsea have been back in training all week, and today they play a very gentle, behind closed doors game against Peterborough.
You can’t take much from the choice of personnel – Thomas Tuchel only has about 3 first team players available to him, and a large part of the starting XI today will be sold or loaned before the season starts, but a look at the formation is interesting.
According to Adam Newson of Football.London, the Blues will continue with the 343 that worked so well for them under the German coach last season.
Told it's a back three for Chelsea today against Peterborough. Thomas Tuchel sticking with the tried and trusted shape that proved so successful last season https://t.co/8SAtfbOGs3

That makes sense – it suits key players like Thiago Silva and Mason Mount down to the ground.
How it will suit the motley crew of youngsters and veterans available for selection today is another matter – sadly we will only see the result, not the game itself.
