Dujon Sterling set to sign new contract after agony of a year out of football

Dujon Sterling is in contract talks with Chelsea over a new contract, despite having missed a year of action due to injury.

While many of his peers have moved on loan, and some are leaving the club entirely, Sterling has been held back by a torn hamstring he picked up early in the 19-20 season.

He’s been back in training since January though, gradually building up to full fitness with Thomas Tuchel able to watch on. He’s clearly been impressed, as Goal.com report that the Blues will give the 21 year old a new deal.

Sterling’s career in the senior game started brightly, as he shone with Coventry in League 1 and then took a step up to Wigan in the Championship to replace Reece James, before his injury blocked his progress.

Last year he played in the U23 team for his comeback, but he may be around the senior squad this season, depending on how the rest of this transfer window goes.
