Chelsea have just confirmed on the club’s official website that Billy Gilmour has joined Norwich on loan for the season.
The midfielder has already joined the Canaries for the start of their preseason, heading straight from the Euros with Scotland where he started – and shone – in one game against England.

It’s a change of tack when it comes to Gilmour, who could easily have made a similar loan last year. Instead he stayed at Stamford Bridge and played very little until the final few weeks of the season.
While it’s a pity to not have him at the club showing Thomas Tuchel what he can do, at Norwich he will be working with a friend and former colleague of the Chelsea boss, Daniel Farke. That will hopefully keep him in the picture for next season’s plans.

Most importantly, Billy will finally get the solid season of first team games he’s never had in his young career so far. We can’t wait to see how he develops in the next 12 months.
