Chelsea transfer battle for Declan Rice starts to go round in circles

Chelsea are making so little headway on their summer signings that publications – including us – are starting to go round in circles reporting on their transfer moves.

Take this article in the Athletic for example – they’re talking about Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice, and they suggest that the Blues will use Tammy Abraham in part exchange with West Ham to bring the midfielder’s price down.

That’s all well and good – but it’s not news. We’ve heard that exact idea reported before.

It does make sense in theory – West Ham want a good number 9, Tammy might want to stay in London, and Rice seems keen on returning to Chelsea. But these swaps are hard to pull off, and the Hammers are going to make taking their prize possession as hard as possible.

We wouldn’t rule it out though – and in fact we will probably hear it being re-reported again in a few weeks.

  1. West Ham ruled out any swap idea weeks ago. Give it up. Been said again today wont be for sale. Were he would be 100 mill plus no swap deals and not for sale anyway. Sometimes appears to take along time to sink in ! There has been no circles just the media apparently repeating things. BEEN 2 YEARS NOW. Youve just reported it all again DAH !!!!!!!!!
