Chelsea survive Covid-19 scare as first team player tests positive in preseason

It was today announced that Arsenal’s preseason tour had been cancelled to a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad. Chelsea fans were probably chuckling to read that – but they might not know how close their own team came to a similar situation.

Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com is reporting that the Blues have already had an outbreak at their training camp, with a first team player and several from the academy testing positive in recent weeks.

The training camp in Ireland which the team are about to attend was at risk, before the club managed to stamp out the spread of the virus within the group. As it stands, everything is going ahead as normal.

Many of the first team are still on holiday, and there will be great caution reintegrating those players into the group to prevent any further incidents of a similar nature.

Until then, we can continue laughing at Arsenal.
