After a few seasons bouncing around loans in the English lower divisions, it seems like lots of people had written off academy product Ike Ugbo.
But a loan at Cercle Brugge saw him find goalscoring form, and has attracted a load of attention at just the right moment. Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com has reported that TEN teams were interested in him at his initial £5m price tag, leading Chelsea to bump that number up significantly.
There are fears that Chelsea could raise the price for Ike Ugbo with at least 10 clubs having asked about him at £5m which was his initial price tag. Anderlecht have come forward in recent weeks but Genk favourites.

Among those interested at Belgian giants Anderlecht and Genk, the latter of which Kinsella describes as “favourites” to sign Ugbo from among the feeding frenzy.
Whatever happens, it looks likely he will go this summer, and Chelsea should get an unexpectedly tasty windfall to add to their war chest in pursuit of their own new striker.
The great exodus is just beginning as a bloated squad needs trimming – let’s hope everyone is as easy to shift as Ike.
