Reece James is a brilliant attacking wing back, and he’s no slouch in defence either.
But as with any player – certainly any good player – they’re always keen to learn more, and it sounds like Reece is learning from the very best.
Ashley Cole was the best English full back of the last 20 years – and maybe ever – and he’s now involved in coaching James to the very top.
In quotes picked up by Goal.com, the defender explained that he is in contact with former Blue Cole, and is always trying to learn from him.
“We speak nearly every week. Probably one of the best left-backs to play the game. Even though he was a left-back the position is basically the same, just on the opposite side. He helps me a lot progressing,” James explained.
There’s genuinely nothing more impressive about Chelsea at the moment than the way they’ve integrated former greats into the club, from Petr Cech at the top to Claude Makelele and Joe Cole further down.
